Greetings from Wellington! It’s hard to believe that we’re half way through the season, and it’s been an exceptionally busy one for Kim and her clients. Over the next several days we’re going to bring you up to date on winter training, competitions and the 2018 Challenge of the Americas.
Backstory on Challenge of the Americas
“The Challenge of the Americas, having evolved over the past 14 years from an afternoon dressage exhibition/luncheon in 2002, has grown into an under-the-lights international equestrian extravaganza and gala. Its success and continued growth is due to its partnership in the fight against breast cancer, as well as its unique and highly entertaining format that features the ever-popular musical Grand Prix Quadrille Team Challenge – forever to be recognized as “dancing for women and men around the world.”
In fact, breast cancer awareness is a cause that is quite personal to Kim, and one that she will continue to champion for years to come. Kim’s sister was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago, and is thankfully now in remission. Once again, Kim is riding client Ellen Reeder’s wonderful Dutch Warmblood, All or Nothing, in COTA. Ellen beat breast cancer 10 years ago, thus this event is close to her heart as well.
An Impressive 2018 Team COTA!
March 9th is a highly anticipated evening for the entire equestrian community in Wellington, and once again this year, Kim will be joining a team of talented riders in this fundraising competition. The team this year consists of George Williams, Charlotte Bredahl, Kasey Perry-Glass, Pam Goodrich and Betsy Steiner, with Bill Warren as coach and Terry Gallo of Klassic Kur arranging the music and choreography!
Kim is having a wonderful time with this team and the choreography, “All our horses are working great together and the pattern and flow is fun and technical, which makes it cool to watch. This year it’s going to be live streamed and we’re going to be competing and judged against a team located in Holland as well!”
Although Kim can’t give away all the team secrets, she did say that the theme for her team this year is The Greatest Show on Earth!
We hope you enjoy this photo album by Sue Weakley from a recent practice, and we hope to see you March 9th at COTA! For information and tickets, please visit http://www.challengeoftheamericas.com/
